An original ghost town from the late 1800s in a state of decay, was made a state historic park by the state of california in 1962  after its name sake William Waterman bodey . A mill was established in 1861 near what is now called Bodie Bluff it all started with 20 miners and grew to around 10,000 people by 1880 . Located off state hwy 395 and 13 mile long dusty road into Bodie.
